Kilpisjärvi (Gilbbesjávri). Henkinen kotini.

Näyttely on omistettu veljeni Tommin muistolle.

Kilpisjärvi (Gilbbesjávri in Northern Sámi). My spiritual home. A small village at the tip of Finland's extended arm in the north of Lapland, in the municipality of Enontekiö, at the foot of the magical Saana fell. A place where the worries of the world melt away and time loses its meaning.

I went on five different trips to photograph Kilpisjärvi between June 2017 and July 2018, in different seasons. I felt the hard frost of the northern winter and its rapidly changing weather, but also the excellent skiing conditions, deep starry skies, and the aurora borealis dancing in the heavens. I felt the power of rebirth brought on by spring. The nightless polar night, the summer's heat, and in the autumn a multicolored, painted world. The sublime Arctic fells, and the region's animals, who adapt quickly to changing weather conditions. I felt nature itself, in this place where the little signs and marks of humans disappear, and only the most essential remains.

I hope you enjoy my photography exhibition, these visions that I was lucky to experience at Kilpisjärvi.

This exhibition is dedicated to the memory of my brother, Tommi.
